Master thesis focusing on quantitative analysis of the Stone Age fireplace structures. The work describes the relation of a fireplace structure to it's possbile function and shows that sites with different modes of economomy can be distinguished by their fireplace structure. It is shown that the size of fireplace and the use of stones in fireplaces decreased in the Neolithic, possibly because of use of pottery.
