Everyday creativity―also known as little c― includes various domains of creative expression in daily life, like i.e., the arts and sciences. The present intention is to analyze the profile of ordinary creators from the general population in various domains. The differential influence of intelligence and personality is explored. The hypothesized model aims to extend the one of Jauk, Benedek, and Neubauer (2014), by introducing further personality predictors. The sample consisted of 101 participants from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg with a mean age of 35 years. Openness remained the only personality predictor in the structural model. In contrast to the model of Jauk et al. (2014), openness was more important for creative potential than for creative activities. Hence, the leading role of openness in the personality domain was confirmed and the model of Jauk et al. (2014) could not be extended by further personality predictors. Implications of this result will be discussed. [less ▲]

Mediation can be defined as "a negotiation between adversarial parties in the presence of a third party, who is neutral, and has the role of facilitating the search for a solution to the conflict" (Touzard, 1977, p. 87). Since the eighties, mediation has been more widely used in North America and Europe. It encompasses both the public and private sectors in various fields such as family, neighbourhood, workplace, schools, and the commercial sector (Carnevale & Pruitt, 1992; Guillaume-Hofnung, 1995). Several authors (Herrman, 2006) have addressed the role of mediators’ behaviour and techniques in the efficacy of mediation. It is generally admitted that mediators have to be neutral and impartial, possess communication skills, be able to address emotions (Jameson, Bodtker, & Linker, 2010), develop competencies in understanding their own emotions and those of the parties involved. We therefore tested the hypothesis that mediators have better emotional competencies than people who are not mediators. We used the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue) (Mikolajczak, et al., 2007) with 3 groups of persons: 36 mediators of all varieties of practice, 31 students in mediation, and 32 persons who have no link to mediation. Results showed that mediators had a significantly higher score on the whole questionnaire than the two other groups (F(2,96) = 3.30 p< .05). However results were more differentiated if sub-scales were considered. Our communication will present and discuss the complete results in the light of professional practices of mediators, especially those aspects linked to emotional competencies. [less ▲]

The aim of the European Leonardo da Vinci project Acrojump is to create a web-based E-profile for young people aged 16-25, who have few qualifications, no diploma and limited professional experience. All relevant information about the past experience of these young people will be put online with the help of counsellors trained to elicit all pertinent facts that can be put into an electronic résumé (sports, participation in projects, field interventions, etc.). These details can represent different levels of competencies which may or may not tie to the professional domain. [less ▲]

Creativity plays an important role in education and on the job market. In this perspective, the present study addresses the personality profile of creative people in specific domains of achievement. Literature on creativity is predominantly based on the analysis of psychology students, artists and scientists. The question which emerges from the current state of the art concerns the ability to generalize these findings. Hence, the current study examines additional professional subsamples in terms of their creative personality. The sample consists of 176 participants (109 women, 66 men, MAge = 24.47, SD = 3.52, age range: 19-39 years). In the general sample, only the correlation between creativity and autonomy was significant (r = .16, p < .05). In the sample of psychologists, this correlation was stronger (r = .57, p < .01). These results suggest the importance of fostering an autonomous working style. [less ▲]

Profiling of the unemployed in order to predict and prevent long-term unemployment has hitherto been based on socio-professional data; however, there is evidence that psychological dimensions also predict job search strategies and unemployment duration. In order to provide psychological profiling, a typological method could be more parsimonious than trait/dimension approaches. Typologies created to date have not addressed the issue of predicting employment status. A sample of 384 newly unemployed people was assessed using psychometric scales which have been shown in past research to be linked to job finding. Through cluster analysis, five groups of unemployed people were differentiated: the “integrated”, “willing”, “outsider”, “anxious”, and “dispossessed”. The typology showed predictive validity for employment status after 12 months. People who were “anxious” or “dispossessed” were more often unemployed than those who were “integrated”, “willing”, or “outsider”. It provided an alternative way of classifying unemployed people that could be used in profiling and especially in advisory support and counselling. [less ▲]

This study presents the validation of a French version of the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale in four Francophone countries. The aim was to re-analyze the item selection and then compare this newly developed French-language form with the international form 2.0. Exploratory factor analysis was used as a tool for item selection, and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) verified the structure of the CAAS French-language form. Measurement equivalence across the four countries was tested using multi-group CFA. Adults and adolescents (N=1707) participated from Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France. Items chosen for the final version of the CAAS French-language form are different to those in the CAAS international form 2.0 and provide an improvement in terms of reliability. The factor structure is replicable across country, age, and gender. Strong evidence for metric invariance and partial evidence for scalar invariance of the CAAS French-language form across countries is given. The CAAS French-language and CAAS international form 2.0 can be used in a combined form of 31 items. The CAAS French-language form will certainly be interesting for practitioners using interventions based on the life design paradigm or aiming at increasing career adapt-ability. [less ▲]

The aim of this study is to develop a tool to identify elements of perceived work contexts with the aim to improve career development practices. We think that to understand how the transfer of experience occurs, it is necessary to comprehend the features of work contexts as well as the tasks and work activities in which a person is engaged, in order to propose effective career development practices. This article focuses on the construction and validation of an inventory of work contexts because, to our knowledge, no French-speaking tool exists. [less ▲]
