Abstract :
[en] The debate on the sustainability of the European model(s) is becoming increasingly urgent. The multidimensional crisis that has been felt across the world since 2007 has revealed a deep need to raise awareness of the important social aspect of European integration. This paper aims to provide a critical assessment of how the crisis and austerity measures have affected the protection of fundamental social rights in the euro area. The paper argues that the continued success and the sustainability of the European project largely depends on a renewed emphasis on its social dimension
